Meet your ‘KidZ Sports’ Instructor!
Amanda Harris, ERfC sports instructor since 2014, will lead the ‘KidZ Sports’ adventure. Ms. Amanda is a former assistant soccer coach in Enfield and a Certified BOKS trainer. Students from local colleges will assist.’ KidZ Sports’ is designed to get kids moving after school! Students engage in cooperative play and try out a variety of sports, games, and activities. ‘Kidz Sports’ will be offered for the Winter 2019 session at Hazardville Memorial and Enfield Street Schools.
Meet your ‘Arts & Crafts’ Instructor!
Instructor Darci McHenry, Owner of TeachArt2Me, is a former art teacher who has been running enrichment activities and art entertainment for over 15 years. She will be assisted by professional instructors from TeachArt2Me staff. In ‘Arts & Crafts’, kids will learn to use different paper craft mediums at every session. A variety of paper making outlets will be explored, including origami paper folding, tissue paper crafts, crepe paper, card stock, and more. Students will create a craft to take home at every class. ‘Arts & Crafts’ will be offered for the Winter 2019 session at Enfield Street, Henry Barnard, and Hazardville Memorial Schools.
Meet your ‘Food Explorers’ Instructor!
Registered Dietitian, Katie Shepherd, will instruct the ‘Food Explorers’ adventure. Katie is a graduate of UCONN. She has experience planning cooking programs for children as a Retail Dietitian atShopRiteand with the WIC program. in Food Explorers, get ready to learn about healthy foods and how to make them fun and tasty. Students discover new foods through a variety of “taste tests”, hands-on cooking activities, games and more. All recipes are nut free. ‘Food Explorers’ will be offered for the Winter 2019 session at Henry Barnard School.
Meet your ‘Stop Motion Movie Making’ Instructor!
Evan Goodchild, Digital Media instructor at JFK After School for the past three years, will lead the ‘Stop Motion Movie Making’ adventure. He is also an instructor UMass-Amherst where he teaches Digital Video Production and Podcasts. Does your student want to learn how to make their own movie? In this digital media class, students will learn the basics of animation and create their very own stop-motion mini-movie using Legos, clay, and digital cameras to create their masterpiece. ‘Stop Motion Movie Making’ will be offered for the Winter 2019 session at Prudence Crandall School.
Meet your ‘Scrapbooking Memories’ Instructor!
Leslie Lawlor will instruct the ‘Scrapbooking Memories’ adventure. Mrs. Lawlor has over five years of experience working as a Creative Memories Consultant. In addition, she is an active PTO parent, certified teacher, and avid “scrapbooker”! ‘Scrapbooking Memories’ will bring out the artist in everyone! Students will use their personal photos to create a scrapbooking keepsake. Using a variety of materials, kids will learn to choose themes to document family, friendships, and special events. Scrapbook Memories will be offered for the Winter 2019 session at Eli Whitney School.
Meet your ‘Peacebuilding Games’ Instructor!
Ryan Obedzinski, also known as ‘Mr. O’, will instruct the Peacebuilding Games adventure. Mr. O has been leading outreach programs for ERfC for the past four years. Many of you know him as the director of Summer Lunch Bunch and Tonight in Thompsonville. He brings over 20 years’ experience in teaching, building community, and program development. He holds a degree in Health Promotion and Secondary Education. These new peacebuilding cooperative games are an excellent way for kids to learn and practice social-emotional learning skills while having fun! Students will develop the essential skills of cooperation, communication, empathy, and conflict resolution, working together with peers. ‘Peacebuilding Games’ will be offered for the Winter 2019 session at Eli Whitney School.
Meet your ‘Kidchen Capable’ Instructor!
Christopher Rinaldi is the owner and operator of Kidchen Capable. Mr. Rinaldi learned his passion for food at a young age. Learn more about him and his very popular program at kidchencapable.com! This hands-on cooking program is just for kids! Not only will students learn to make healthy snacks and meals, but they will also learn about nutrition, safety, and the proper storage of food. Activities include a working manual, complete with recipes and cooking ideas for kids! ‘Kidchen Capable’ will be offered for the Winter 2019 session at Parkman School.
Meet your ‘Tennis – Learn to Play!’ Instructor!
Michael Myers, operator of Enfield Tennis Club will instruct this great indoor sport. Coach Myers was the #1 player for Springfield College and former Springfield College Men’s and Women’s Coach. Other tennis professionals from The Enfield Tennis Club will also assist in this program. A great indoor winter activity, tennis helps kids become healthy and fit. Students will learn the basics of tennis including serving, returning and rallying and plenty of movements. Beginners are welcomed. Not only will kids be active, but they will also develop skills and most importantly, have fun! Tennis will be offered for the Winter 2019 session at Prudence Crandall School.
