Aides for School-Day and Before & After School
Description

School Day and Before & After School Aides are responsible for ensuring students are actively engaged in learning activities, maintaining a safe environment, and monitoring student behavior.

Aides assist in small groups of up to 10 students in grades K-8 in various activities including school day instruction, arts and crafts, science, math, music, inside and outside sports and games, homework, technology, science, and other enrichment programs.

Responsibilities

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Maintain positive environment, ensuring health and safety of students at all times
  • Build positive relationships with students
  • Follow the daily schedule by assisting in planned activities
  • Facilitate smooth transitions between activities in AM and PM After School
  • Communicate effectively with other staff, students, teachers, and administrators
  • Document all incidents, issues or behavior management actions effectively on daily logs
  • Assist other staff with setting up and clean up from daily
  • Monitor students on AM and PM bus routes
  • Assist in school day classrooms
  • Escort children from location to location, inside and outside school building
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Follow all safety regulations for safety set by the CDC and local Board of Health

Supervisory Responsibilities:
None

Qualifications

Required Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Experience working with children in a learning environment.
  • Some college or an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, special needs or related field preferred.
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Experience with distance learning and Microsoft Teams a plus
  • Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Ability to lift and carry supplies, up to 25 pounds
  • Must agree to participate in mandated training for required certification in pediatric CPR, first aid, medication administration, and epi-pen administration
  • Must agree to submit fingerprints and background check
  • Mandated use of Facial Masks at all times is required
  • Ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours as needed.
