ERfC is the community's first choice for children during out-of-school-time hours, ensuring that all children have the opportunity to learn, have fun, and contribute to the world around them.


ERfC offers a wide range of out-of-school-time activities. Following is an overview of our core programs. From time to time, ERfC offers additional opportunities for children in the Enfield community. For a list of our program locations, click here.

Centers Are Open!

ERfC operates quality Before & After School Centers to promote positive youth development while meeting our community's needs for keeping kids safe and families productively employed.

Our expanded learning opportunities include:

Before & After School Centers

ERfC operates Before & After School centers at the following locations:

  • Enfield Street School
  • Henry Barnard School
  • Nathan Hale School
  • Hazardville Memorial School
  • JFK Middle School

Hours of Operation

School-Age Centers are open from the first day until the last day of school.

Elementary Before & After School Centers Regular Hours of Operation:

  • Morning Hours: 7:00 AM to start of school
    • Enfield Street School
    • Barnard School
    • Hazardville Memorial School
    • Nathan Hale School
  • Afternoon Hours: 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM

JFK After School Center Hours of Operation:

  • Afternoons Only: 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM

Early Release Days: Hours of Operation - All Centers

  • From school release time to 6:00 PM.
  • For unscheduled early releases due to weather or other factors, Centers will open unless school building usage is restricted.

All ERfC Centers will open when school is dismissed on the following Early-Release Days:

  • Sep 28 - In Service
  • Oct 26 - In Service
  • Nov 10  - Parent Conferences
  • Nov 15 & 17 - In Service
  • Dec 14 - In Service
  • Jan 11 - In Service
  • Mar 29 - In Service
  • Apr 26 – In Service
  • May 31- In ServiceIf you are NOT already enrolled in our School-Age Centers, you may sign up for school Early Release Days and attend one of our centers for the afternoon.  Please call our office for more details.

Weather-related closings:

  • If schools are canceled in the morning, all ERfC Centers will be closed.
  • If schools release early or cancel afternoon activities,  ERfC Centers will be OPEN.  Early pickups are encouraged but not required.
  • For school 90 minute delays, ERfC AM Centers will also delay for 90 minutes, opening at 8:30 AM.
  • Parents will be notified directly about any variation of these ERfC policies.

cookingOur Afterschool Adventures program includes our popular Kidz Sports, Kidz Write, Jumping Clay and Mad Science. These programs offer opportunities for physical fitness, team building, creative self-expression, and a fun, inspirational learning environment. We encourage you to to learn more about these individual programs.

Our Vacation Destination center is located at Enfield Street School, 1318 Enfield St, and is available to all Enfield children in Grades K - 8.

The ERfC Vacation Destination Center will be open from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, on the following Non-School Days:

  • Nov. 23 - Day before Thanksgiving
  • Dec. 27-30 - Vacation
  • Feb 21 - Winter Vacation day
  • Apr. 10-13 - Vacation (Closed Good Friday)

*Located at Hazardville Memorial School

Pre-Registration is required to attend the Vacation Destination Center.

You can enroll online, or if you prefer, enrollment forms are available at the Centers. A fee of $45 per child, per day, will apply. Registration and payment must be submitted at least three (3) weeks prior. This special service is open to all Enfield children. There is no transportation to or from the Vacation Destination Center. A light breakfast, lunch and snacks are provided.

ERfC reserves the right to not open on days that registrations fall below its minimums. Notice will be given three weeks prior to the date.

summer escape

Summer Escape is jam-packed with fun sports, arts and crafts, nature, water, and science activities. Every day, kids do new and fun things geared to each age group. On Thursdays, we go to Lake Congamond for fun at the beach.

Summer Escape is a seven-week day camp from July 5 to August 18, 2017, Monday thru Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.  It is open to all Enfield kids who are entering grade 1 to 8 in September.  Kids from outside Enfield are welcome if space is available. Learn More

This is a USDA sponsored outreach program that offers daily free lunch to children and their parents at St. Patrick Parish Hall in Thompsonville. [map]

Every day, the program also offers educational and recreational activities for children while community agencies and volunteers staff a parent information center.

Summer Lunch Bunch is open Monday - Friday from

Backpack Drive

July 11 - August 19, 2016

Your donation of backpacks and school supplies will mean a child returns to school in September with the tools they need to learn.  A backpack filled with school supplies will be offered to all children who need one on August 23rd.
