ANNUAL REPORT – ERfC teamed with local organizations to provide Enfield children with meals during the Summer & COVID-19 Times

With the rise of the COVID-19 pandemic, many families were affected and faced hard times. ERfC saw the need to supplement lunches during the summer to students who typically would receive free lunches during the school year. At the time, approximately 45% of the students enrolled in Enfield Schools qualified for free and reduced school lunches.

ERfC teamed with Enfield Food Shelf and Enfield Public Schools to provide USDA sponsored free lunches, provided by the CT Renewal Team (CRT) from Hartford, for all children ages 18 and under between June 22 and August 14. During the 8-week period, 3,502 lunches were handed out to families at the two pick up locations, the Enfield Food Shelf and Eli Whitney School.

“Thank you for the lunches for my grandson this Summer. It really helped out with all that is going on with the virus.” – Carol L, Enfield grandparent
