Middle school can be an especially challenging time for students. Early adolescence is a time of positive transition and growth as they embark on the process of identity formation and start to gain greater independence. Parents know their adolescent children need greater freedom, but want them to do well in school and stay on track for graduation. Students in our after school program will participate in after school activities aligned with their developmental needs where they can be with their friends in a productive, safe environment, developing new skills and interests. Our after school program incorporates choice, and inspire students while delivering educational and social benefits that address the concerns of parents and support the efforts of school-day staff.
ERfC’s JFK After School program allows children with different learning styles to work in groups, explore, and be engaged. The focus of the program is to give youth a safe place and opportunity to grow socially, between 2:30 PM and 6:00 PM, where they can do their homework, receive tutoring and mentoring and participate in sports, robotics, computer animation & coding, art, teamwork activities, and community service. The activity schedule will vary because the youth are involved in planning their program activities.
